Mehdi Qamoum, connu pour sa voix spirituelle et la façon qu’il joue le Guembri dans la musique traditionnelle Gnawa, guérit tous les maux de l’âme. Jeune artiste de Agadir, il commença sa carrière en fondant le groupe traditionnel Ouled Bambara en 2009, pour ensuite rejoindre Jazzawyia, une association où il rencontra plusieurs artistes jouant dans différents styles de musique autre que le sien où il agrandira sa vision de la musique du monde. Mehdi a eu l’opportunité de participer à Disney World dans sa première tournée aux États-Unis avec Ribab Fusion, ce qui l’encouragea a promouvoir la culture marocaine à l’extérieur de son pays et être fier de ses origines.
Son plus récent projet est le groupe MediCament, un mélange entre les instruments traditionnels et électriques. Le groupe commença en introduisant le Guembri au publique pour ensuite rajouter tous les autres instruments; la guitare, basse, keyboards et drums, montrant toutes les beautés de la musique du monde. Mehdi Qamoum a développé son projet sur différentes scènes dont Les nuits du Ramadan à Rabat et au festival Aknari à Sidi Ifni.
Ses derniers accomplissements dont il est le plus fier sont sa participation à la résidence aux États-Unis appelé OneBeat où il a rencontré et collaboré avec des artistes de partout dans le monde, sa participation au festival de Jazz de Cape Town, une résidence avec le groupe Nostalgia en Tunisie, une résidence avec le groupe Kokobasaï en France et plusieurs autres. Son expérience la plus récente était une semaine à Pretoria en Afrique du Sud pour la deuxième semaine culturelle arabe annuelle où il représenta son pays avec plusieurs autre représentant arabe dont l’Égypte, la Palestine, le Soudan et l’Arabie-Saoudite.

Mehdi Qamoum, known for his spiritual voice and his Guembri playing in the traditional music of Gnawa, heals all the ills of the soul. Young artist from Agadir, he originally founded a band of traditional music under the name of Ouled Bambara in 2009, then joined Jazzawyia, an association where he met several artists and musicians playing different styles of music other than his own, which allowed him to develop his musical level in the World Music. He had the opportunity to participate to Disney World on his first experience abroad to, touring in the United States with Ribab Fusion, which encouraged him to promote the Moroccan culture outside his native country and make his origins proud.
His latest project is the group MediCament, a mix between traditional and electric instruments. The band started to guide the public with only a Guembri as an introduction, then iadding the other instruments; guitar, bass, keyboard and drums to discover this new world in all its beauty. Mehdi Qamoum developed this project on different stages such as Les nuits de Ramadan, a live show at Renaissance cafe in Rabat and Festival Aknari in Sidi Ifni.
His latest achievements that he is the most proud of were his participation in a residency program in USA called OneBeat where he met and collaborated with artists from all around the world, his participation in the Cape Town International Jazz Festival, a residency with the group Nostalgia in Sfax Tunisia, a residency with the group Kokobasaï in Rennes France and many more opportunities to come. His most recent experience was a week long spent in Pretoria South Africa at the 2nd annual cultural Arab week where he represented his country among many other Arab representatives like Egypt, Palestine, Soudan and Saudi Arabia.
